This City Council work session of the City of Greensboro was called to order at 2:00 p.m. on the above date.

Mayor Vaughan stated Councilmember Wells would be participating via Zoom.

B.

  

Transportation Planning Planner, Grey Johnston made a PPP; explained the Greensboro Transportation Authority (GTA) update; outlined future projects; spoke to a trolley plot; to current routes; to the vision and recommendations; and to goals for access and ridership. 

Discussion took place regarding bus routes. 

Mr. Johnston continued the PPP; spoke to a downtown trolley; to a car optional city by 2040; to route planning; to bus designs; and to street closures.

Discussion ensued regarding cross town and extended routes; service enhancements; implementation; cost per route; and social district area.

Councilmember Hoffmann joined the meeting via zoom at 2:29 p.m.

Councilmember Matheny requested staff to research a trolley schedule focused on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays.

Councilmember Thurm requested staff to research a trolley schedule focused on Monday, through Friday workday hours.

Item B.2. (2023-228) was heard 1st.

Jarrett Walker and Associates Senior Associate, Scudder Wagg made a PowerPoint Presentation (PPP); spoke to mobility Greensboro 2045; to a vision plan; to a car optional city; to sidewalk and street design; to existing network; to purposed network; to maximizing transit; to resource allocation; to ridership goals; and outlined an estimated timeline.

Discussion took place regarding connector routes; route frequency; and federal funding. 

Mayor Vaughan requested staff to be aware of budget request and budget criteria. 

Discussion continued regarding a potential property tax increase; the recycling program; and budget projections.

Moved by Councilmember Thurm, seconded by Councilmember Abuzuaiter, to adjourn the meeting. The motion carried on by affirmation.
