Call To Order

  

This City Council work session of the City of Greensboro was called to order at 4:00 p.m. on the above date.

Mayor Vaughan took a roll call to confirm Councilmembers in attendance and recognized Councilmember Matheny's absence.

2022-1231 ARP Update

This item has attachments.  

City Manager Taiwo Jaiyeoba introduced the item; spoke to the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Funds; and to staff recommendations. 

Assistant City Manager Larry Davis made a PowerPoint presentation (PPP); spoke to the Greensboro ARP funding process; to funds awarded; to remaining funding considerations; to City staff recommendations; to supportive housing; and to infrastructure.

City Manager Jaiyeoba spoke to the Greensboro Housing Coalition; to affordable housing; and to down payment assistance.

Discussion took place regarding a budget increase; Recommendation Allocation spread sheet explanation; community input; Natural Science Center parking; down payment assistance and homeownership; Workforce Development; employee health insurance; and website accessibility. 

Councilmember Hoffmann requested staff to provide healthcare data per employee. 

Mayor Vaughan requested staff to schedule an agenda item; and to upload reinvestment areas on the City website.

2022-1232 Closed Session

This item has attachments.  

Moved by Mayor Pro-Tem Johnson, seconded by Councilmember Thurm, to go into closed session to discuss matters relating to the location or expansion of industries or other businesses in the Greensboro area, including agreement on a tentative list of economic development incentives that may be offered. The motion carried by voice vote.

Council recessed to closed session at 4:40 p.m.

Moved by Councilmember Thurm, seconded by Councilmember Holston, to return to open session. The motion carried by voice vote. Council reconvened into open session at 5:30 p.m.
