Ms. McNeil made a PowerPoint presentation (PPP); spoke to the Peace on Purpose project; highlighted letters of support; a vision statement; referenced a two year safety survey; highlighted violent crime data; spoke to the development of planning committees and work groups; to defining Safe in Greensboro; to a violence prevention public health approach; to community impacts; outlined the 3 Pillars of Peace; the key areas of focus; provided detailed explanations for the 3 Pillars of Peace; and explained the GSO Peace on Purpose program and pledge.
Discussion continued regarding pledge measurements; resident engagement; and upcoming community events.
Ms. McNeil continued the PPP; spoke to the departmental violence prevention initiative framework; to the need for community safety; highlighted the intervention and interruption initiative; and community-based organization in neighborhoods.
Community Safety Manager, Erin Williams spoke to the GSO Homeless Outreach Mobile Engagement (HOME) program; highlighted wrap around care services; permanent and white flag housing, treatment and employment assistance; spoke to a family success story; to community safety; and to the Behavioral Health Response Team (BHRT).
Discussion ensued regarding a United Way partnership; points of contact; White Flag coverage; the need for family shelters; and community outreach.
City Manager Davis made a PPP; provided an update on the Road to 10,000 housing plan; spoke to dispelling myths; highlighted and explained "the missing middle"; referenced a comment "housing is where jobs go to sleep at night"; spoke to an analysis of internal and external steps; to a proposed task force; and to communication strategies.
Councilmember Matheny voiced concerns regarding the definition of "the missing middle"; highlighted different housing types; affordable housing; spoke to being a part of the task force; asked staff to provide a map to identify city owned properties; spoke to land that is achievable and compatible; and to the need for sidewalks.
Discussion continued regarding visions and walkability of development; housing issues; affordability; lending capacities; homes to be rehabbed; and the Randleman Road plan.
